I'm not much of an action movie fan, but I went to go see Iron Man yesterday because everyone's been raving about it and Robert Downey Jr. did not disappoint. The trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie played before the film and I have to say, I got nostalgic for the days when my sisters and I used to watch the trilogy on VHS repeatedly, memorizing the dialogue and even becoming mildly obsessed with Sean Patrick Flanery, who played Indy in the TV series, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
So you can imagine my disappointment at reading this morning that early reviews for the movie aren't great. John Hurt, who stars in the film as Professor Oxley, told the Times of London, "It's cops-and-robbers stuff." The British actor added, "And it's all to make Mr. Lucas an extra billion, as if he needs it."
Way to a pull a Katherine Heigl there, guy. But he's not the only one crying foul, with Ain't It Cool News citing disappointment over the special effects, stilted dialog and anticlimactic near-death scenes, declaring, "This is the Indiana Jones movie that you were dreading."
Oh well, I'll still have to check it out just to be sure
