Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi's Wedding Bells

Ellen DeGeneres has announced on her talk show that she plans to wed Portia de Rossi now that the California Supreme Court has ruled in favor of gay marriages.

Portia, 35, was in the studio at the time, and Ellen, 50, were applauded by audience members after the announcement was made on Thursday.

Ellen previously had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche.

In 1997, Ellen appeared on the cover of Time Magazine entitled, 'Yep, I'm Gay'

The taped episode of Ellen making the announcement is said to air today, Friday.
