Co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck broke down in tears on the View Thursday during a discussion about under what circumstances the "N" word can be used appropriately. Hasselbeck argued that the word shouldn't be used at all because "it perpetuates stereotypes and hate" (Watch above). Co-host Whoopi Goldberg responded, "We use it the way we want to use it" Goldberg also took issue that Hasselbeck said they both live in "the same world." "We do live in different worlds," Goldberg said. "You don't understand." At one point, Barbara Walters even told Hasselbeck: "You're not listening, you're just talking." Hasselbeck was brought to tears when she asked, "How are we supposed to move forward if we keep using words that bring back that pain?" (See other celebrity meltdowns.)
