Pete Penalized!

As we mentioned last week, Pete Doherty was a wanted man after a warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to show up in court.

The case deals with an incident that occurred on August 22, 2007 when Dopehead smashed a paparazzi's camera after she took a picture of him before he returned to a clinic for drug treatment.

Finally, today (Thursday), a British court ordered that Doherty must pay damages to the photographer, Catherine Mead.

He'll be required to pay her almost $2,000 for breaking her camera.

Mead is a photographer with the South West News Service agency. She apparently had been following Doperty and his family around town all day.

The court did accept there was a "degree of provocation" in the incident, but Doherty was still found guilty.

Once the case was over, Doherty told reporters outside the court, "Yeah, it was okay today, it should have been sorted out ages ago to be honest. It's been hanging over me for a long time."

Wait. That actually sounded a bit coherent.

Guess he wasn't on any drugs today.
