Dita Fails In Her Eurovision Bid

The legendary Dita Von Teese appeal didn't work its magic this past weekend at the Eurovision Song Contest. As we recently reported, the burlesque star was a special guest star during Germany's entry to the annual camp Euro sing-slam. broadcast worldwide to 100 million viewers.

On the night, however, it was unclear what the point of Dita actually was during the super-cheesy Teutonic number by Alex Swings Oscar Sings, Miss Kiss Kiss Bang. The camera ignored her for most of the song — instead focusing on the lead singer's incredible glittery leggings — and when she was introduced to the audience, she did a few Dita poses, and er, that was it. At the end of the evening, Germany finished a dismal 20th out of 25 places.

Never mind. The UK finished its run of appalling years by scoring a respectable 5th place with Jade Ewen's ballad It's My Time, and the winning song from Norway broke all previous Eurovision records with an incredible 387 points. We failed to see its appeal, however — and reckon singer Alexander Rybak and the song Fairytale were bloody awful. What do you think?
