Answering your burning questions, plus a Watcher bonus video!
It's time to reach into the reader mailbag and answer a few of your burning questions. Please note that if you have a question for me, you can leave it in the comment area below or send it to this new e-mail address: TribTVquestions@gmail.com.
And at the end of this item, there's a video tour of the Watcher HQ! Can you stand the excitement?
On to your queries:
Maureen F.: I watched Medium's' [finale], and [Allison DuBois] had brain surgery and a stroke. It ended with to be continued.' My brother said there is a rumor that CBS is picking up the show. Can you please provide some information on what is happening?
Mo sez: It is indeed returning this fall on CBS, not NBC. The show will air Fridays between Ghost Whisperer' and Numb3rs.'
Charles B.: It looks as if In Treatment' has been canceled: Has it?
Victoria H.: I take it from what you've written that you're a big fan of Flight of the Conchords.' Do you have any scoop on whether they'll be back for a third season? Or was their trip back to New Zealand [in the Season 2 finale] a more telling part of their story than just a vacation back home?
Mo sez: At this point, there's no news on whether we'll get third seasons of either Flight of the Conchords' or In Treatment.' An HBO rep says no decision has been made yet on whether to bring back either show, though I hope both return.
Harold G.: Do you know if 24' will ever be back?
Mo sez: Yes, it'll return Jan. 17 on Fox. When it does, Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica'), Freddie Prinze Jr. and Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire') will join Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and the rest of the cast.
Debbie S.: Please tell me Lie to Me' has been picked up for another season. I have three favorite off the wall' shows: Burn Notice,' Mad Men' (when does it start its new season?) and Lie to Me.'
Mo sez: Yes, Lie to Me' will indeed return on Fox this fall, and when it does, Rockford native Shawn Ryan (executive producer of The Shield' and The Unit') will be the new head writer, a development that has certainly raised my expectations for the Tim Roth vehicle. As you probably already know, Burn Notice' is airing Thursdays on USA this summer, and Mad Men' returns Aug. 16 on AMC.
Ramon R.: I was wondering if you had any news on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles''if it was renewed and will be back this fall?
Mo sez: Sorry to let you know that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' was canceled by Fox. To read executive producer Josh Friedman's hilarious and poignant account of the end of the show's run, check out this blog post.
Pat P.: I haven't found "Kings" lately - has it been dropped?
Mo sez: The ambitious and interesting "Kings" has been kicked around the schedule quite a bit and will definitely not be returning. But the show's remaining episodes are airing 7 p.m. Central Saturdays on NBC.
Chris S.: Any word of the next original series at AMC? It would great if it had programming all year round like most of the other cable networks.
Mo sez: Great question, Chris. The only thing that is definitely in the pipeline is a limited-run remake of the classic British series "The Prisoner." AMC's version stars Ian McKellen and Jim Cavaziel and airs in November. AMC has other projects in development, but the network has not committed to a new scripted series at this time. But it stands to reason that AMC will likely add to its roster in coming years.
For a daily stream of TV news and musings, check out my Twitter feed. And leave questions (about matters big and small below) or send them to TribTVquestions@gmail.com. One caveat: If your question is "Is such-and-so show returning," before you ask that question, go to the Futon Critic and do a search there, or look on the Futon Critic's Fall Schedule.
Now for the bonus: Here's a tour of my home office. Sorry I didn't get a wide "establishing shot" to start the video off. I have new appreciation for cinematographers who have to shoot in small spaces -- my office looks the size of a hamster cage here, but it's more spacious than that. Fun trivia note: The sign that says "Picon" in my office may or may not come from the "Battlestar Galactica" event at the United Nations.
In any case, this video was a way for me to get my feet wet with my new Flip camera, which is quite the fun little gadget. Enjoy!
