TV ratings: 'Sunday Night Football' dominates for NBC

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009

The first "Sunday Night Football" broadcast of the season scored big ratings for NBC on Sunday, while the late-afternoon games on FOX helped "King of the Hill" to a decent-sized audience for its series finale.

Numbers for NBC and FOX will change some because of their live sports coverage, but as things stand now NBC ruled the night with 15.5 million viewers and a 9.4 rating/15 share in households. FOX (7.7 million, 4.6/7) came in second. CBS (6.2 million, 4.0/6) was third, while ABC came in fourth with 4.5 million viewers and a 2.7/4. The CW drew 1.2 million viewers and a 0.8/1.

(Ratings for the Video Music Awards on MTV should be available later in the day Monday.)

NBC also led among adults 18-49 with a 6.2 rating. FOX grabbed second in the key ad demographic with a 3.4. CBS took third at 1.6, followed by ABC, 1.3, and The CW, 0.5.
