'Curb Your Enthusiasm' gets syndicated, 'Wanda Sykes' starts OK

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" is following some of its HBO brethren into syndication.

TV Land and the no-longer-just-listings TV Guide Network have acquired the syndication rights to the series, beginning next year. TV Guide will have the first shot at the show, which by the end of this season will have aired 70 episodes, starting in February. After TV Guide's "multi-year" window expires, "Curb" will migrate to TV Land.

As things stand now, TV Land would get the show in 2013. TV Guide's rights to the show could end up running longer if creator Larry David and HBO decide to do another season.

Both channels will also have broadband, wireless and on-demand rights to the show, which will allow viewers to watch on multiple screens.

"Curb" is joining "The Sopranos," "Sex and the City" and "Entourage" in making the move from HBO to syndication, and will have to make some of the same standards-and-practices tweaks those shows did to air on ad-supported cable.

- David's sometime "Curb" guest star, Wanda Sykes, got her career as a late-night host off to a decent start over the weekend.

The premiere of "The Wanda Sykes Show" on FOX Saturday night scored a 2.2 rating in the metered markets, the most preliminary measure of ratings. More solid numbers won't be out for a few days, but the premiere does put Sykes ahead of what "MADtv" was averaging at this time last year.

NBC and "Saturday Night Live" need not worry about their hold on Saturday late-night, however. The show scored a 5.0 metered-market rating with host and musical guest Taylor Swift on Saturday, its best this season.
