An investigator for the LA County Coroner's office found "large amounts" of prescription meds written in Brittany Murhpy's name at the scene of her death. "A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent's name. Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent's husband's name, the decedent's mother's name and unidentified third party names," Investigator Blacklock wrote in notes obtained by TMZ. Some of the drugs included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med.) Although the investigator notes that "No alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered," a combination of those medications could prove to have been lethal for Brittany. The notes also document in detail the events of Sunday morning. Brittany "had been complaining of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pain" a week to ten days before her death. At 7:30 in the morning, she went into the bathroom and shut the door. After a half an hour, her mother, Sharon Murphy, went to check on her, and "discovered the decedent lying on the floor unresponsive." Sharon yelled for Simon, and the pair put her in the shower in an attempt to revive Brittany, but "The decedent remained unresponsive and purged her stomach contents prior to the arrival of the paramedics." Simon told the investigator that Simon was not alarmed by her complaints of not feeling well because "she often suffered from severe menstrual pains." But all that medication is not just for cramps! An autopsy of Brittany's body was inconclusive. The coroner is still awaiting results of toxicology, neuropathology and histiopathology tests before determining a cause of death. I guess we won't know what really killed her until the toxicology report is released!
