Brittany Murphy's Husband Hushes Rumors

Brittany Murphy's husband has hit back at rumors suggesting that an overdose or an eating disorder was the cause of his wife's death.

Simon Monjack, a British-born screenwriter said: "This is what's killing all of us. How did it happen?" he said. "Her mum, myself and her family - we all want to know why we lost our baby."

The Clueless and 8 Mile star died, on Sunday morning, after collapsing unexpectedly at her Hollywood Hills home.

US reports have claimed she had been looking particularly thin recently and could have been battling an eating disorder.

But Monjack, 32, rubbished the speculation, saying: "These rumors that she was anorexic? It's crazy - she was slim, but that was her natural physique."

He also denied a drugs overdose could have been to blame.

Monjack, who wed Murphy in 2007, revealed his wife suffered from a heart murmur, but that it was not a life-threatening condition and did not require medication.

He also said that she had been suffering from laryngitis at the weekend - which she had been treating with herbal tea.

He said: "There was nothing that could endanger her. There was prescription medication in the house for her female time and some cough syrup. That was it."

He also admitted that he had not initially wanted an autopsy performed on his wife's body - but soon realized it was the only way to determine the exact cause of death.

He said: "My initial reaction to the autopsy was - they're going to cut her open - I couldn't bear it. That would break her mother.

"But we realized we needed to know. I look forward to getting the results."
