Who didn't want to sit atop a glass dinnig room table of a parent-less large estate with Jake friggin Ryan?!?!? -
I'm seriously upset by this. I grew up watching John Hughes movies--I don't need to watch Ferris Bueller to quote every line and BG music, and I could watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles one billion times and still love it. RIP JH, I'll always love you and Glenbrook North HS.

Ahhhh, Jake and the birthday cake.
"Bueller, Bueller, Bueller" "You're Abe Froman, the sausage king of Chicago?".
My friends and I would ditch school and try to have 1/2 of the day he did and never got close.
Anthony Michael Hall, a quirky nerd you actually liked.
RIP, John Hughes. -
Rest In Peace John Hughes

Did you guys see this blog post about John Hughes? It's circulating like crazy, but if you haven't seen it yet, it's a must-read.

Posted August 7th, 2009 by MollWillGiveYaTerribleThrillsOMFG, that was so effing touching!
Even my blackened heart was melted to tears. -
I know. I read that, and I started tearing about when the author described the phone call. Fan-freaking-tastic of him.

Not having kids but if I did they would either be Chet, Gary, or Wyatt. If they were girls they'd just have to deal.
LOVE his movies...esp Breakfast Club and Weird Science. Never tire of them. -

Forgot to add..RIP Hughes. One of my favorite director/writers of all time. -
Wow. That was a great article. It's crazy he died at 59. It is comforting to know of how close he was with John Candy. I hung out with Candy for over an hour at a Kings hockey game in 1992. What a great guy. I still have the signed ticket stub from that day, and I will never forget that experience. I was sad when he died, just as I am for Hughes. I also grew up with these films and plan on watching them in the future with my own children. RIP to both Johns.....

Nutters-that is really cool you met John Candy! I have enjoyed several of his movies. It is a shame we lost him so soon as well.

Seriously... another 50ish year old died of a heart attack????
I am kinda sad about this one. I may have to name either my first born or my next son either Blane or Ducky in honor.
