Will someone explain to me...

... why people are so sympathetic towards Roman Polanski? He plead guilty, but at the time of sentencing took off to live the high life in Europe rather than serve his time. I get that the judge might have given him some more jail time than he wanted, but the guy admitted to doing the crime! He drugged, raped and sodomized a young girl, why are people jumping around saying how unfair it all is?

Plus, what pisses me off more, is how he has not appeared at any of the parole hearings of the killers of his wife and child because he was too busy getting sloshed on Champagne in his French chateau. That is such an insult to her and his unborn child it makes me kind of sick.

Here's my plan, since he has been a known fugitive for 30+ years and the Hollywood studios have continued to support him and his films, the government should seize their assets, sell them off and thereby resolve California's budget crisis. Then we should let him serve out his sentence for the rape, and tack on a few more years for escaping.

I have no sympathy for him

Well said. BTW the child was 13 that he raped.

He's a hollywood star, that's why people support him. Brad Pitt could kill a family of gypsies and americans would still go see his movies.

Face it, we are a country of spoiled dumbasses...

Actually Andy it is the French government who is the most crazy supportive of him. They have known for years he is an escaped rapist and have allowed him to travel freely. I know there is no formal extradition treaty between our nations (which is a travesty) but they certainly could have notified the US gov't of his movements in and out of the country.
