Why is everyone so hostile and rude on these forums?

I agree and disagree (always on the fence I am)

I don't feel that everyone is hostile and rude. I think that there is a heavy dose of sarcasm, though. Sometimes that comes off as rude.
I also know that there is a bit of a community on the forums...and that community gets a bit tired of seeing the same kinds of questions asked over and over when they are answered quite plainly in the help section. For instance, the tried and true "Why didn't this get scored yet?" in the middle of the day. It is sometimes hard to remember that someone who just started may not understand the scoring system yet...but we tend to get jaded about it.
The community also has a mild disdain for 'netspeak'. We tend to feel superior (not that we are) to those whose posts are hard on the eyes because they refuse to use proper english.
Most of all, however, the reason this site thrives in the first place is because this community tends to be snarky. Look at the blogs used for scoring, for instance. Snarkiness reigns supreme. Here we are, mocking the celebrities while all the while celebrating them at the same time.

My suggestion to anyone new, in any public forum, is to read the existing posts before jumping in with your two cents. 1) You get a feel for the community already established. 2)Many of your questions have been answered by previous posts.

So, Sammy, I do agree with you that we are here for discussion and not ripping each other apart. I disagree that that everyone is hostile and rude on these forums. Most of the ribbing happens between people who are just teasing each other.
I realize that you are, in essence, talking about the threads started by a girl in your league...but lets keep in mind that you and she have shot back at those you felt merited an insult...and that it isn't everyone on the forums being rude.

Right well I wrote "pointsss" and got told I was retarded and cant spell. Just seems unneccessary this should be for fun not anger release.. and People are commenting on peoples looks which isnt cool either. Just stating that every1 should try and be a little nicer.

I agree with mrsmo914 - the forums are meant to discuss gossip news and developments that are happening - not tell strangers that you are a "sexpot" and ask annoying questions. However I suppose I shouldn't be so rude - I was just baffled that people acted like that.

i prob shouldn't get involved in this, but i miss the old fun forums and wanna get back to bashing the celebs (and maybe each other, but mildly)

i don't know any of you, but i've read all these posts and i've been here awhile so here's my 2 cents. from what i've read in these forums, and the few times i've posted i have to say, i agree with what mrsmo is saying about everyone in the forums being real sarcastic with each other.

so sammy the one instance when u were insulted for ur spelling....i think the initial response was really just the other poster being sarcastic. then you wrote something mean, so she insulted you back.

we've all asked for things to be scored, or asked why things don't get scored, but your friend in the other post was getting a bit repetative, and also saying it should've been scored based on news reports and other things that fafa doesn't use for scoring. sometimes you have to wait it out till it's in the blogs that are used (located on the scoring page), sometimes things don't get scored at all (damn u todd, i'm still waiting on the evangeline lily points) but being annoying isn't gonna get points. if you really think something's being missed...feel free to discuss it....but try and do so in a nicer way then "give me poinnnttttsssss this deserves pointttttsss" keeping in mind that without todd and megan we wouldn't even have fafa to keep us entertained everyday.

other than that, i guess it wasn't really nice to insult your friends looks from a picture that's like (this.big.) and without knowing anything about them. so i understand why you'd take offense to that.

just try and have fun on here, be sarcastic right back to people, but try not to outright insult each other, cause while it's mildly entertaining to an outsider, it's also mildly annoying cause i'd rather read about celebs than each others ass or lack there of.

(id say sorry if this is insulting, but if you're insulted by it, my saying sorry wouldn't make you feel any better about it.)

Great post and great suggestions, as usual. It would make sense for newer people to read some threads, see the convo gist, and jump on in. But I realize that to many of the newer kids, reading and English are not part of the education focus of our society today
