Oh, funny episodes, you make my soul hurt. So enjoyable to watch, so difficult to recap. And this one is even worse because it was written by veteran sitcom writers Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn, on loan this week from Two and a Half Men. All right, the whining will stop. We open with Peg Bundy Katey Sagal sitcom star Annabelle berating her executive producer over the woman-hating script. She and the producer, Spencer, repeat the word "vagina" so many times that it stops sounding like a real world. After ripping Spencer to shreds, Annabelle steps off the elevator and faux-warmly greets her adoring public.
While Spencer grouses about his star with the other writers, Annabelle heads over to the on location set in a casino and greets her co-star, Megan, who obviously sees Annabelle for the raging bitchface she is but is too much of a team player to complain. Just when you think this is obviously about Cybill with Annabelle as Cybill Shepherd and Megan as Christine Baranski, things veer in the Roseanne direction when Annabelle calls for her freeloading cokehead boyfriend, Tom Arnold Bud. She kisses him and he's surprised because he thought she was mad at him, so clearly he is still a n00b to Annabelle's mercurial moods. She whines about how mean the writers are to her, berates her assistant/stand-in Natasha, and then makes massive bitchface during the first take of the scene when Megan's lines get the biggest laughs. She demands that the lines be switched and the beleaguered writers comply, but Megan still gets all the laughs. Except from Bud, who only laughs at Annabelle's lines when she glares at him.
Cut to Annabelle lying dead in a pool of blood on her hotel room floor. Brass talks to Spencer, who found the body, and Spencer says most of the cast and crew went back to LA after the shoot but Annabelle doesn't travel at night so she made him stay behind.
