The wide-ranging efforts to find the vampire series "Moonlight" a new TV home after its cancellation by CBS have been, well, staked. THR says the sets have been dismantled and so has the possibility of any future for the show on CW or a cable outlet. The ratings just weren't good enough to justify the cost of producing the hourlong series. But I think it's safe to say that star Alex O'Loughlin (left, with Shannon Sossamyn) will turn up in another series sooner rather than later, given the fan support this show gained in its brief life on air.
Those wacky "Jericho" fans are once again saying "nuts" to cancellation, though. Having saved the show once, only to see it get so-so numbers in the middle of the writers strike, fans of the CBS show have now ponied up $6000 for a basic cable ad in and around Hollywood in hopes of convincing decision-makers to change their minds. TV By The Numbers says the shows producers have been supportive of the fan efforts and say there are still talks about making a place for the show on a cable outlet such as Sci Fi.
You have to wonder, though, if another network besides CBS might have been able to make a good of these two shows, one a vampire fantasy, the other an apocalyptic drama.
