At Thursday's Dirty Sexy Money' panel, the show's producers said they will dirty up lead character Nick George (Peter Krause) a little more this year. It sounds as though the character will be, to put it bluntly, less passive.
While I enjoy the ambivalence of what world am I in and how can I maintain my integrity, I think that we need to see Nick give into some more temptation, and that, I would say, is the change of course for the character of Nick, that rather than standing back from it and seeing it and weighing it, there's going to be a few times when he makes the choice in a direction where it's going to make him a little dirtier and it's going to cost him,' Krause said.
I think last year Nick sometimes was dealing with a lot of ambivalence. And this season, rather rapidly, Nick is going to sort of dig into being an active part of this family in a way that he wasn't last season, and it's going to happen in a number of very concrete plot ways,' creator Craig Wright said.
It sounds like the show will become a little more conventionally soapy, but still with an element of moral exploration. As Wright said, it's really more dirty, more sexy, and more money than it was ever before.
Lucy Liu is joining the show as one of its 85 series regulars (I kid, but man, does that show have a big cast. On the other hand, Samaire Armstrong, who played one of the Darling kids, is no longer a series regular, though the producers say they would like her character to appear on the show occasionally, if possible).
Also, executive producer Greg Berlanti said they'd try to centralize' the stories more. Otherwise, the characters feel like they're off in their own universe, and they don't feel like they're relating because, you know, part of what a show like this is showing up to watch these great actors do incredible scenes together and not necessarily with the guest star of the week who's not as interesting.'
